RPI Pre-Health Advising is here to help you explore, prepare for, and successfully pursue a career in the health professions, while staying grounded in who you are and what matters most to you. If you are beginning to consider medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, physician assistant studies, or another health-related path, or you are actively preparing to apply, you will find guidance that is personalized, evidence-based, and built around your long-term goals. Advising at RPI goes beyond course planning and requirements; it is a collaborative process that supports your academic growth, professional development, reflective self-assessment, and readiness for the demands of graduate health programs.

Through one-on-one advising, workshops, and an expansive Pre-Health Committee, you will gain insight into prerequisite planning, experiential learning, professional competencies, application strategy, letters of evaluation, and admissions timelines. These webpages bring together much of the information and resources discussed in advising meetings, including guidance on health-profession pathways, standardized exams, clinical and service experiences, application cycles, and institutional support for applicants. Whether you are a prospective student exploring RPI, a current student building your preparation step by step, or an alum returning for application support, RPI Pre-Health Advising is here to help you navigate the process with clarity, intention, and confidence.

In these 30-minute meetings (available in person and virtually), you can receive feedback on personal statements, work and activities descriptions, secondary essays, and post-application letters such as letters of interest, intent, or significant updates. To make the most of our time together, be sure to upload the document you would like feedback on when scheduling your appointment. In advance of the meeting, written feedback is prepared and shared during the appointment, allowing you to receive detailed written comments and real-time verbal guidance. These sessions are designed to help you strengthen clarity, structure, and storytelling, so your application reflects what you’ve done and who you are. Topics include:
