Pursue your M.D. or Ph.D. Apply for early assurance to the Icahn School of Medicine.
Rensselaer and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have partnered to create new educational and research collaborations that will allow clinicians, scientists, and engineers to develop biologic or clinical insights from the point of discovery through the design, development and delivery process necessary to introduce new medical treatments and diagnoses.
Current education programs include a Summer Undergraduate Research Program in New York City for undergraduates planning to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D. as well as a FlexMed Program which allows for college sophomores in any major to apply for early assurance to the Icahn School of Medicine.
Active Education Exchange Programs
- The Icahn School of Medicine, located in New York City, offers summer research internships to outstanding undergraduate students who are planning to pursue an M.D./Ph.D. or a Ph.D. and who are interested in doing research at a leading biomedical institution. SURP at Mount Sinai is a 10-week program that begins in June every year. SURP fellows receive intensive research training in a cutting-edge biomedical laboratory, thus gaining an insider’s perspective into Mount Sinai graduate programs and academic life. The fellowship includes free housing and a stipend.
- FlexMed allows college sophomores in any major to apply for early assurance to the Icahn School of Medicine. Once accepted, students are free to pursue their area of study, unencumbered by the traditional science requirements and MCAT.
