Professor Fabian Faulstich's research focuses on understanding the practical capabilities of quantum computers for solving scientific computing problems. His work investigates quantum algorithms for electronic-structure simulations and linear algebra, two areas central to applications in chemistry, materials science, and data analysis.

A major component of this research is the rigorous benchmarking of quantum algorithms against state-of-the-art classical methods. By establishing realistic performance baselines, this work helps identify where quantum computing can provide meaningful advantages and where classical approaches remain competitive. In parallel, Professor Faulstich studies quantum algorithms for linear algebra, seeking to determine how quantum computing can accelerate fundamental computational tasks that underpin modern science and engineering. Together, these efforts contribute to a clearer understanding of the opportunities and limitations of near- and long-term quantum technologies.
