An On-campus organization catering to both undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in physics.

We serve students both academically and socially. We provide students with information about unique opportunities to further themselves academically and professionally both during and after their time at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute via talks from guest speakers and advice from upperclassmen, graduate students, alumni, and professors. We also enable students to network with other students interested in physics, allowing them to discuss physics problems, build demonstrative apparatus, and play with liquid nitrogen.

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association designed for students and membership is open to anyone interested in physics. SPS operates within the American Institute of Physics (AlP), an umbrella organization for professional physical science societies. The RPI Chapter of the Society of Physics Students has won an Outstanding Chapter Award from the SPS National Office every year since 2009, with a lapse due to COVID, and most recently for 2023. This highest level of distinction, given to the top chapters in the US, is received by less than 10% of all chapters each year,

If physics is something that interests you, regardless of whether or not you are a physics major, and you are interested in learning more about our organization, feel free to stop by one of our meetings!
