Ross Siegel, Physics graduate student and advisee of Professor Humberto Terrones, Complex Structures of Matter and 2D Materials group, won first place for Graduate Oral Presentations for Physics at the February 2018 ERN Conference. 

The closest galaxy to our own is the majestic Andromeda galaxy, a collection of a trillion stars located a “mere” 2 million light years away. New research suggests that, contrary to previous estimates, this galaxy isn’t much bigger than the Milky Way, and is practically our twin. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson has appointed a task force to study and assess fraternity and sorority life at the university. The Greek Life Task Force will work with the community to identify what is necessary to enact a long-term, sustainable, and comprehensive culture change to preserve the positive aspects of the Rensselaer Greek system.
