Wilfredo Colon Department Head
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Rensselaer performs modern interdisciplinary research across different areas of chemistry to address problems of societal importance. Chemistry played an important role in Rensselaer’s founding mission to train students in the “application of science for the common purposes of life”. Nearly 200 years later, our department continues to nurture a culture of innovation, discovery, and application in exploiting the transformative power of chemistry to address major world problems. Excellence in teaching and research are central aspects of our mission. We are #committed to providing unique research experiences to our undergraduate and graduate students, as well as guidance and opportunities to develop personal and professional skills that are essential for success in today’s increasingly competitive and challenging world.
