Rensselaer Board of Trustees Welcomes Two New Members

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced the addition of two new members to the Rensselaer Board of Trustees, effective January 1, 2018: Linda Pitzi Jojo ’87, ’92G, executive vice president, technology, and chief digital officer at United Continental Holdings, the parent company of United Airlines, and T.J. Wojnar Jr.’80, vice president of corporate strategic planning at ExxonMobil.

Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson is profiled in the MIT Technology Review article “The Remarkable Career of Shirley Ann Jackson,” published Dec. 19, 2017.

 

“Shirley Ann Jackson worked to help bring about more diversity at MIT, where she was the first African-American woman to earn a doctorate,” wrote author Amanda Schaffer. “She then applied her mix of vision and pragmatism in the lab, in Washington, and at the helm of a major research university.”

Rensselaer Launches $1 Billion Capital Campaign

On Friday, October 13, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson hosted alumni, guests, and campus members at the launch of a capital campaign designed to position Rensselaer for its third century of leadership in research and education. “Transformative: Campaign for Global Change” will seek to raise $1 billion for student scholarships, faculty support, and campus enhancements.

Troy, N.Y. – This spring,1,841 students will receive degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the oldest technological research university in the United States, on Saturday, May 20, beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the East Campus Athletic Village (ECAV) stadium. They represent the next generation of leaders, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, patent holders, game designers, architects, and innovators, in fields ranging from engineering to architecture, fine arts to science, game design to information technology, and business to active military service.
