Seeking Lecturer or Sr. Lecturer in Computer Science

The School of Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or related fields (exceptional candidates with M.S. may be considered). Candidates must have teaching expertise in both introductory course and upper-level computer science electives. The successful candidate will have strong teaching, advising, and mentoring skills. The ideal candidate will be an individual with a comprehensive vision of computer science education, as well as the skills needed to integrate into a multi-disciplinary department.

Expert Panel on AI in the Capital Region To Feature Deborah McGuinness

Deborah McGuinness, the Tetherless World Senior Constellation Chair at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will provide insights into Artificial Intelligence alongside other leading experts during an upcoming public panel discussion titled “A.I. The Future of Climate, Clean Energy and Cybersecurity in the Capital Region.”

Competitions and Hackathons

Multi-disciplinary teams get together to develop solutions to a specified problem or along a specified theme. Hackathons are typically short, running anywhere from a 8 hours to 1-2 days, and have prizes for participants based on the quality and/or uniqueness of their contributions. Competitions are more variable, and can range from a Hackathon level event up to a semester long event with multiple round and presentations.

Thesis Defenses & Grad Student Poster Sessions

During their thesis defense, PhD candidates introduce and motivate the problems they attacked during their course of studies, defend the novelty and significance of their research, and contextualize their contributions within their field. This is the final step in the process of obtaining a PhD, and a successful defense indicates the acknowledgment of the doctoral #committee that the candidate is an expert in their field. The defense talks are open to all members of the RPI community, and we welcome those interested to attend.
