The Department of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, NY, is aggressively growing in all areas of computer science and its myriad applications.
We seek highly collaborative applicants with a strong vision for solving emerging 21st century challenges. We invite applications for Fall'23 from outstanding candidates for multiple positions spanning the spectrum of computer science, from algorithmic and theoretical foundations, to systems and software, and emerging applications. We are particularly interested in candidates pushing the frontiers of artificial intelligence and machine learning (including natural language processing), future computing systems and paradigms (including quantum computing), ethical and social issues in computing, and so on.
We encourage outstanding applicants at all academic ranks who will build upon our existing strengths, though our primary focus is on assistant professors. Applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professor positions must show evidence of emerging research distinction and a clear interest in graduate and undergraduate education. Candidates for tenured positions must possess an exceptional record of research accomplishments and a demonstrated commitment to graduate and undergraduate education. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science or a related area.
Successful candidates will have duties that include developing and maintaining robust programs of research and scholarship, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and service to the department, to Rensselaer, and to the professional community.
