The Department of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of network science defined broadly as the study of general network processes and network structure, including but not limited to network resilience and control, social networks, infrastructure networks, network evolution, bio-medical networks, and algorithmic aspects of dynamical network processes.

Applicants for this position must demonstrate an outstanding record of research accomplishments and strong commitment to teaching. The successful candidate will have duties that include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in the department, developing and maintaining robust programs of research and scholarship, and service to the department, the School of Science, and to Rensselaer. We seek highly collaborative applicants with strong technical vision and a focus on emerging 21st century technologies and challenges. At minimum, candidates must have a Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent in computer science or closely related field, along with the ability to demonstrate, through their records of accomplishments, promise of future distinction in scholarship and education.

As part of the School of Science at Rensselaer, which is undergoing a broad expansion (, the Department of Computer Science has 23 tenure and tenure-track faculty and excellent undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD programs involving in total over 1,000 students. The department maintains strong interdisciplinary research efforts, bolstered by the Network Science and Engineering Center, the Institute for Data Exploration and Applications, the Center for Computational Innovations, the Data Science Research Center, the Tetherless World Constellation, and the Center for a Digital Society.
