Troy, N.Y. – This spring,1,841 students will receive degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the oldest technological research university in the United States, on Saturday, May 20, beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the East Campus Athletic Village (ECAV) stadium. They represent the next generation of leaders, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, patent holders, game designers, architects, and innovators, in fields ranging from engineering to architecture, fine arts to science, game design to information technology, and business to active military service.

Troy, N.Y. – The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are elective programs for students who desire commissions in the United States Armed Forces. This year, 33 students will be graduating from the ROTC program and starting active military service as officers with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

Troy, N.Y. —A record total of 19,485 high school students have filed applications to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this fall, according to numbers released today by the Rensselaer Office of Admissions. This year’s total represents an increase of 5 percent from last year at this time, and nearly a 10 percent increase over the past two years.

The 6th annual Future Leaders Series meeting is coming up! This event is an opportunity for Ph.D. students expected to graduate in 2021 to present their work at our next local section meeting being held on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 (6:00 – 9:00PM).
Faculty are encouraged to nominate their Ph.D. students for consideration by Sunday, Jan, 10th, 2021.
Selected speakers will be notified by Wed, January 13th, 2021. We are looking for 3-4 speakers to present.

Jessica Hellinger is recipient of a 2019 Society for Applied Spectroscopy Undergraduate Student Award. This award recognizes her project to siimultaneously obtain elemental and small molecule information with a novel plasma source, the Solution Cathode Glow Discharge (SCGD), via optical emission spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. This award will be presented at the SciX Conference in Palm Springs, CA, in October 2019.
