The Advising Hub offers academic guidance and support to School of Science students throughout their time at RPI.
Staffed by experienced advisors, the Hub provides personalized support to help students reach their academic goals and navigate various academic processes. It assists with course planning, major/minor declarations, form approvals, transfer credit evaluations and issues with the Math/Science core.

How it Works
All students in the School of Science will be assigned a faculty advisor in their first-year at RPI (except for Computer Science majors, they will be assigned one in their second year).
Faculty advisors promote academic success through mentorship and offer valuable perspective on internships, research, graduate school, and job prospects, in addition to graduation requirements.
The HUB works in tandem with your faculty advisor to ensure a smooth academic journey and to provide academic advising support to you throughout your time at RPI.

The RPI Experience (formerly The Arch) is an academic and experiential learning pathway that connects classroom learning with real-world application. Through The Exploration Semester and The Discovery Semester, students prepare for future careers by completing a required career development course and a required experiential learning experience while staying on track toward their undergraduate degree.
- The RPI Experience includes two components that are required for all undergraduate students:
- The Exploration Semester (Taking and earning a 'Satisfactory' grade in the ADMN 1030 course)
- The Discovery Semester (Taking and earning a 'Satisfactory' grade in the ILEA 4400 course)

Meet the Staff
Chad Christensen has a B.S. in Kinesiology from SUNY Cortland and an M.S. Ed. in College Student Services Administration from the College of Saint Rose. He has been advising students and working in higher education since 2008. He is a life-long resident of the Capital Region and enjoys hiking, fishing and boating with his family.
Hope has worked in education since 2008 at high school, university, and state levels as an English teacher, advisor and director of teacher preparation programs, and developer of teacher leadership programs. Hope attended the University at Albany for her B.A. in English and writing, the College of Saint Rose for her M.S. in English Education, and the University at Albany for her PhD in the Rhetoric of Health and Medicine (in progress). Hope enjoys being in nature, walking and hiking, meditation and wellness pursuits, calm spaces and comfy clothes, live music, road trips, and coffee o’clock every afternoon.
Lauren grew up in Albany and received her bachelor's degree in International Studies from American University in 2019. As an undergrad, her interest in the Higher Education field grew from working within on-campus offices and from studying abroad in Kenya. After graduating, she worked within the Student Services department at Albany Medical College and then joined the Science Hub team in the Spring of 2022. Lauren enjoys cheering on the Washington Capitals, attempting DIY projects, and checking out local antique and thrift stores.
Aimee grew up locally in Cohoes, NY and received her bachelor’s degree in History Education from SUNY New Paltz in 2019. She moved to Boston, MA shortly after graduating and there worked at a school for neurodiverse adolescents and then as a social-emotional counselor at a middle school. She has been interested in Higher Education since her time working in the admissions office and residence life as an undergrad student and joined the HUB team in fall of 2022. Aimee enjoys watching movies, making playlists for friends, being outside, and bringing her dog Watson everywhere she can.
Jessey grew up in Queensbury, NY and received her bachelor’s degree in Digital Forensics from the University at Albany in 2021. After graduating, she discovered a passion for higher education while working at SUNY Adirondack, where she supported underserved high school students as they prepared for the college application process. Jessey joined the School of Science Advising Hub team in the fall of 2023, bringing her student-focused mindset and commitment to access and success. When not working, you can find Jessey curled up with a good book or spending quality time with family and friends.
